"Consuming Impulse" (1989) was the beginning of everything good for PESTILENCE . Inducted into the Decibel Hall of Fame in 2013, the album marked PESTILENCE's transition from the distinctive and raw sounding thrash - as seen on 1988's "Malleus Maleficarum" - to a heavier, more haunting and vibrant death metal. Not only did Martin van Drunen's ( Asphyx ) vocals on the songs define the acid growl; PESTILENCE featured, and were present at the forefront of, the scene with Death , Nekrolog , Sepultura , Morbid Angel , Bolt Thrower and Autopsy .
The album was recorded at Music Lab Studios in Berlin, Germany and released in 1989 with van Drunen on vocals (his second and last album with PESTILENCE ), Patrick Uterwijk on guitar (he replaced Randy Meinhard shortly after the release of ?Malleus Maleficarum? ), Marco Foddis on drums and finally Mr. Sam PESTILENCE : Patrick Mameli on bass and guitars. Originally released on CD by the now defunct RC Records (a sub-label of the company known today as Roadrunner Records ).
